Dear girl - Dear precious, lovely girl,
You have fallen,
and I have watched as you pressed your knees and palms into the dirt,
defeated.
But you did not forget your strength.
I watched you raise your salt-water eyes to the horizon,
and push upwards, determined for a new dawn.

These days are not endless and these nights,
